Expanding her knowledge and gaining new perspectives through cross-cultural experiences are what Amanda enjoys most.  Her first awareness of forced displacement and refugee resettlement came when she lived in the largest asylum-seeker community of Glasgow, Scotland, and learned from her neighbors about the persecution they fled from in their home countries.

Following ten years of living and working in Scotland and France and witnessing the growing refugee crisis in Europe, Amanda moved back to the Asheville area and began volunteering with the local Catholic Charities refugee assistance program.

She is currently taking graduate courses in Refugee Resettlement and Forced Migration Studies through the University of London and enjoys collaborating with others who are passionate about refugee awareness as part of FUSE’s LOVE > FEAR project.
